An excellent film about the gathering of evidence and legal fight against one of the most powerful energy corporation on earth. The actual film showing both horrors of environmental industrial ACTIONS causing direct (visible, no need for a chemical kit- and invisible of course) environmental degradation, and the parody of justice, in fact even the travesty of the existence of a simple legal system going on and on.

“Despite these many setbacks, the Ecuadorian victims of Chevron’s pollution that Donziger helps to represent continue to attempt to enforce the judgment in Ontario, Canada.[19] Actions are also being pursued in Colombia and Argentina where, unlike in Ecuador, Chevron still has major assets.[20] Pursuant to these efforts, Chevron has already had assets frozen in Argentina, including bank deposits and its stake in a pipeline company.[21] These developments followed Donziger’s successful appeal before the Second Circuit Court of Appeals of Judge Kaplan’s worldwide injunction against the enforcement of the Ecuadorian judgment on the basis of Chevron’s allegations of judicial malfeasance in Ecuador.”

Sexual abuse and assault awareness and prevention law aimed at children.

What does Erin’s Law do?
With respect to the renewal of a Standard Teaching Certificate, provides that continuing professional development activities may include participating in or presenting at in-service training programs on sexual abuse and assault awareness and prevention.

Erin’s Law final Task Force Report

All it took was one night for my innocence to be stolen. From ages 6-8 1/2 and 11-13 two men molested and raped me. One a neighbor the other a family member. I wasn’t telling because nobody had educated me to tell. The only message I was getting was from the men abusing me. These men told me they would come get me, they knew where I lived, no one would believe me, I had no proof, and I would destroy my family if I told our secret. There are children across this world being told the same thing I was told and I have now made it my mission to educate and empower every child with their voice through Erin’s Law. A law I am determined to get passed in all 50 states. Make sure to scroll to the bottom of this page. Lots of information and videos on Erin’s Law.

The mission of  Erin’s law is to get education in all 50 states on the prevention of sexual abuse by empowering children with their voice instead of allowing sex offenders to silence them.

Education Program requires age-appropriate sexual abuse and assault awareness and prevention education in grades
 Pre-kindergarten through 12
Effective immediately.

It should be passed in all 50 states. Common sense.
It’s as simple as that. “

Every single victory during the past year – from exposing horrific abuse of ducks and geese on a French foie gras farm to helping to convince the UK government to reject an appeal to build a facility in Yorkshire that would have bred hundreds of dogs for use in deadly laboratory experiments – was achieved through the generosity of our compassionate members.

But despite so many recent successes, animals are still being confined to tiny, filthy cages on factory farms; electrocuted, strangled and even skinned alive for “fashion”; cut open, poisoned and mutilated in horrific experiments; and beaten and kept in chains in order to force them to perform for human “entertainment”.

Muslim Society not rebuked for hosting a murder-approving speaker

London – 28 February 2013

“Thahabi endorses the murder of gay people and of Muslims who give up their faith. He says women are deficient and encourages the beating of little girls who refuse to wear the hijab,” said Peter Tatchell, Director of the human rights lobby, the Peter Tatchell Foundation.

“While this cancellation is welcome, the university’s reasons for the cancellation appear to be bogus, feeble and unprincipled.

“The university authorities claim the Thahabi meeting was cancelled because of serious threats of violent protest by extremist groups. I challenge the university to name these groups and reveal the threats.

“Women, Muslim and LGBT students have a right to go to university without being menaced and threatened by hate preachers.

“Disgracefully, the Vice Chancellor has failed to condemn the Muslim Society for invitingThahabi.

A letter had been sent by the Peter Tatchell Foundation to the Vice Chancellor of Reading University, David Bell, protesting at the university’s decision to host Abu Usamah at-Thahabi, on the grounds that Thahabi had been filmed by Channel Four’s Dispatches programme justifying the murder of gay people. There won’t be as many baby seals killed this year, but the slaughter is still going forward.

[…]

Crude spiked clubs will crush their still-soft skulls. For some, the skin will be ripped off their bloody bodies while they’re still conscious. All to satisfy a greedy, vain industry that we are working hard to send the way of the dinosaurs.

Please donate now and help us stop the senseless slaughter of seals and other innocent animals.

More than 170,000 harp seals have been slaughtered on the ice floes off Canada’s east coast in recent years. Nearly all of them were less than 3 months old. The seal pups yelp in terror as the sealers’ spiked clubs slam into their heads while other seals nearby can only watch and wail. Many infant seals are bludgeoned before they even eat their first solid meal or learn how to swim.

After violently attacking these young pups, sealers routinely hook them in the eye, cheek, or mouth – sometimes while they are still conscious – to avoid damaging their pelts before dragging the animals across the ice to skin them. They then leave them to die a slow, painful death.

Unless something changes, without more help from animal heroes like you, this horror will occur again. Please donate today so we can ramp up our campaign to stop the slaughter.

Photo: Muslim mobs attack a Christian area of Lahore after blasphemy allegation (M. Ali)

LAHORE, Pakistan (Morning Star News) – Muslim mobs upset over an alleged derogatory comment about the prophet of Islam burned down more than 180 Christian-owned houses and shops and at least two church buildings here on Saturday (March 9) after authorities told police to “let them vent their grief and anger,” officials said.

Lahore’s impoverished Joseph Colony looked like a war-ravaged town by Saturday night. There were no reports of casualties, but the site was reminiscent of the destruction in Gojra in 2009, when eight Christians were burned alive, 100 houses looted and 50 homes set ablaze after a blasphemy accusation.

Leviathan

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jump to: navigation, search

This article is about the biblical creature. For the book by Thomas Hobbes, see Leviathan (book). For other uses, see Leviathan (disambiguation).

“Destruction of Leviathan”. 1865 engraving by Gustave Doré

C.ET: could be a lightning. Beautiful animal. And paint. Anyway it’s French.

Leviathan (/lɨˈvaɪ.əθən/; Hebrew: לִוְיָתָן, Modern Livyatan Tiberian Liwyāṯān ; “twisted, coiled”) is a sea monster referenced in the Tanakh and in the Christian Old Testament.

[…]

The Leviathan is mentioned six times in the Tanakh, with Job 41:1-34 being dedicated to describing him in detail:[1]

1 Can you pull in the leviathan with a fishhook or tie down his tongue with a rope?

2 Can you put a cord through his nose or pierce his jaw with a hook?

3 Will he keep begging you for mercy? Will he speak to you with gentle words?

4 Will he make an agreement with you for you to take him as your slave for life?

5 Can you make a pet of him like a bird or put him on a leash for your girls?

6 Will traders barter for him? Will they divide him up among the merchants?

7 Can you fill his hide with harpoons or his head with fishing spears?

8 If you lay a hand on him, you will remember the struggle and never do it again!

9 Any hope of subduing him is false; the mere sight of him is overpowering.

10 No-one is fierce enough to rouse him. Who then is able to stand against me?

11 Who has a claim against me that I must pay? Everything under heaven belongs to me.

12 I will not fail to speak of his limbs, his strength and his graceful form.

13 Who can strip off his outer coat? Who would approach him with a bridle?

14 Who dares open the doors of his mouth, ringed about with his fearsome teeth?

15 His back has rows of shields tightly sealed together;

16 each is so close to the next that no air can pass between.

17 They are joined fast to one another; they cling together and cannot be parted.

18 His snorting throws out flashes of light; his eyes are like the rays of dawn.

19 Firebrands stream from his mouth; sparks of fire shoot out.

20 Smoke pours from his nostrils as from a boiling pot over a fire of reeds.

21 His breath sets coals ablaze, and flames dart from his mouth.

22 Strength resides in his neck; dismay goes before him.

23 The folds of his flesh are tightly joined; they are firm and immovable.

24 His chest is hard as rock, hard as a lower millstone.

25 When he rises up, the mighty are terrified; they retreat before his thrashing.

26 The sword that reaches him has no effect, nor does the spear or the dart or the javelin.

27 Iron he treats like straw and bronze like rotten wood.

28 Arrows do not make him flee, sling stones are like chaff to him.

29 A club seems to him but a piece of straw, he laughs at the rattling of the lance.

30 His undersides are jagged potsherds, leaving a trail in the mud like a threshing-sledge.

31 He makes the depths churn like a boiling cauldron and stirs up the sea like a pot of ointment.

32 Behind him he leaves a glistening wake; one would think the deep had white hair.

33 Nothing on earth is his equal— a creature without fear.

Isaiah 27:1 he is called the “wriggling serpent” who will be killed at the end of time.[2]

[…] Isaiah 27:1 uses the first of these phrases to describe Leviathan (although in this case the name “Leviathan” apparently refers to an unnamed historical/political enemy of Israel rather than the original serpent-monster).[citation needed] In Psalm 104, Leviathan is not described as harmful in any way, but simply as a creature of the ocean, part of God’s creation. It is possible that the authors of the Job 41:2-26, on the other hand, based the Leviathan on descriptions of Egyptian animal mythology where the crocodile is the enemy of the solar deity Horus (and is subdued either by Horus, or by the Pharaoh). This is in contrast to typical descriptions of the sea monster trope in terms of mythological combat.[2]

 [edit] Christianity

The Leviathan of the Middle Ages was used as an image of Satan, endangering both God’s creatures—by attempting to eat them—and God’s creation—by threatening it with upheaval in the waters of Chaos.[7] St. Thomas Aquinas described Leviathan as the demon of envy, first in punishing the corresponding sinners. (Secunda Secundae Question 36) Leviathan became associated with, and may originally have referred to, the visual motif of the Hellmouth, a monstrous animal into whose mouth the damned disappear at the Last Judgement[…] [edit]

“Sidi-Nouman,” replied the Caliph, “your story is indeed a strange one, and there is no excuse to be offered for your wife. But, without condemning your treatment of her, I wish you to reflect how much she must suffer from being changed into an animal, and I hope you will let that punishment be enough. I do not order you to insist upon the young magician finding the means to restore your wife to her human shape, because I know that when once women such as she begin to work evil they never leave off, and I should only bring down on your head a vengeance far worse than the one you have undergone already.”

Death on a Pale Horse

[…]

The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are described in the last book of the New Testament of the Bible, called the Book of Revelation of Jesus Christ to Saint John the Evangelist at 6:1-8. The chapter tells of a “‘book’, or ‘scroll’, in God’s right hand that is sealed with seven seals”. The Lamb of God, or Lion of Judah (Jesus Christ), opens the first four of the seven seals, which summons forth four beings that ride out on white, red, black, and pale horses. Although some interpretations differ, in most accounts, the four riders are seen as symbolizing Conquest,[1] War,[2] Famine,[3] and Death, respectively. The Christian apocalyptic vision is that the four horsemen are to set a divine apocalypse upon the world as harbingers of the Last Judgment.[1

See Leviathan (disambiguation)

The Hebrew monster Leviathan found in the Book of Job has given rise to many popular incarnations. This article treats subjects with no direct connection to the Ancient Middle East or Jewish origins.

[edit] Literature

Leviathan is the title of Thomas Hobbes’ 1651 work on the social contract and the origins of creation of an ideal state, and his proper name for the Commonwealth.

In Paradise Lost, Milton uses the term Leviathan to describe the size and power of Satan, the ruler of many kingdoms.

The Leviathan appears in the last book of the 1975 The Illuminatus! Trilogy by Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson as a colossal, intelligent sea creature in the shape of a tentacled pyramid.

In Steven Brust’s novel To Reign in Hell, Leviathan (female in this case) is one of seven elder inhabitants of Hell who conspire to prevent Yahweh from creating the Earth as a sanctuary for himself and those loyal to him.

Beelzebub was a prince of the Seraphim, just below Lucifer. Beelzebub, along with Lucifer and Leviathan, were the first three angels to fall. He tempts men with pride and is opposed by St. Francis of Assisi.

Islamist haters blocked at East London University

University & student union fail to publicly condemn preachers

London – 18 March 2013

The University of East London (UEL) blocked an Islamist meeting that was due to be held on the Stratford campus last Friday, 15 March. The meeting was billed as featuring hate preachers Khalid Yasin and Jalal Ibn Saeed.

The meeting was also advertised with “segregated seating”, where women would be forced to sit separate from men.

The Peter Tatchell Foundation, LGBT Society at UEL and the Braki blog lobbied for the meeting to be cancelled.

Khalid Yasin says homosexuality and lesbianism are “aberrations, they are immoralities.” He endorses the execution of gay people.

He also insists that Muslims should not have non-Muslims as friends, condemning non-Muslims using the derogatory term, kaffirs. He praises public executions and amputations and claims AIDS is a western and World Health Organisation conspiracy to kill Africans.

It’s Sensitive. Really. By William Broad

December, 13, 2005

New York Times, Science Times

“But a team of scientists from Harvard and the National Institute of Standards and Technology has now made a startling discovery: the tusk, it turns out, forms a sensory organ of exceptional size and sensitivity, making the living appendage one of the planet’s most remarkable, and one that in some ways outdoes its own mythology.

The find came when the team turned an electron microscope on the tusk’s material and found new subtleties of dental anatomy. The close-ups showed that 10 million nerve endings tunnel from the tusk’s core toward its outer surface, communicating with the outside world. The scientists say the nerves can detect subtle changes of temperature, pressure, particle gradients and probably much else, giving the animal unique insights.

“This whale is intent on understanding its environment,” said Martin T. Nweeia, the team’s leader and a clinical instructor at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Contrary to common views, he said, “The tusk is not about guys duking it out with sticks and swords.”  By William Broad December, 13, 2005

Challenges and threats

“Around 30,000 small whales, dolphins and porpoises die each year as a result of becoming entangled in fishing gear and drowning. Known as ‘bycatch,’ this accidental catch is one of the greatest threats to cetaceans.

Whaling is another huge problem. Systematic over-exploitation has brought some species close to extinction. In the Antarctic alone, more than two million whales were killed by commercial whalers during the 20th century. In 1986 the International Whaling Commission (IWC) banned commercial whaling. However, loopholes in the rules mean whales can still be hunted for “scientific purposes”. This happens in countries such as Japan and Iceland.

Other threats facing whales include being struck by ships, chemical pollution from industry, and disturbance by noise from navy operations and seismic surveys, and depletion of prey as a result of over fishing”.  (wwf)

Reading University cancels “kill gays” Islamist preacher

Feeble excuse: fictitious threat of violent protests?

Cleric’s incitement to murder ignored in cancellation decision

Muslim Society not rebuked for hosting a murder-approving speaker

London – 28 February 2013

Reading University has cancelled today’s scheduled speech by “kill the gays” Islamist preacher Abu Usamah at-Thahabi, which was to be hosted by the university’s Muslim Society.

“The idea that Islamist extremists would threaten a fellow Islamist extremist is absurd. The planned student protest against Thahabi was always going to be peaceful and never made any threats, as far as I know.

“Unless the university has evidence they have not disclosed, its professed reason for cancellation looks like a vile, disgraceful smear against legitimate, non-violent protesters.

“To its shame, the university appears to have used a phoney excuse to cancel a speaker who never should have been invited to speak in the first place. Inviting Thahabi clearly violated the equal opportunities and non-discrimination policies of the university and the student’s union.

“Women, Muslim and LGBT students have a right to go to university without being menaced and threatened by hate preachers.

“Disgracefully, the Vice Chancellor has failed to condemn the Muslim Society for inviting
Thahabi.

“Thahabi’s hateful, violent views are not shared by most Muslims in Britain,” said Mr Tatchell.

See below the briefing about Abu Usamah at-Thahabi’s history of murderous incitements, sexism and threats against fellow Muslims.

See this online local Reading press report of the meeting’s cancellation, posted at 19.30 last night:
http://bit.ly/VaxxXY

A letter had been sent by the Peter Tatchell Foundation to the Vice Chancellor of Reading University, David Bell, protesting at the university’s decision to host Abu Usamah at-Thahabi, on the grounds that Thahabi had been filmed by Channel Four’s Dispatches programme justifying the murder of gay people. Incitement to murder is a serious criminal offence.

Below is a copy of this letter.

Other protests were made against Thahabi by the anti-extremist organisation, Students Rights, and by Reading University students.

Vice-Chancellor, Reading University

Dear David Bell,

I understand that Mr. Abu Usamah at-Thahabi is giving a talk at the University of Reading on Thursday, 28th February 2013.

This individual has incited hatred and murder of homosexuals. He has abused his right to free speech and infringed the right of LGBT people to go about their lives without threats or fear.

Please click on this link for more evidence of Mr at-Thahabi’s history of preaching hate and violence against LGBT people: http://bit.ly/QxFCVz

It is not good enough to monitor his presence on Thursday. His conduct before attending the University of Reading needs to weigh heavily upon any decision to permit him onto university property.

Allowing him to speak at your university would be a de facto reward for incitement to homophobic violence.

I would urge you to deny him a platform or hospitality, as it would be an insult to past/present/future LGBT individuals attending your university.

If Mr Abu Usamah at-Thahabi’s previous remarks had called for the murder of Jewish or black people I am sure he would not be permitted to speak at your university.

I urge you to not collude with a man who incites murder, and to not adopt double standards on incitements to racist and homophobic violence.

Equality for all. Hatred against none.

Yours with best wishes,

Peter Tatchell
Director
Peter Tatchell Foundation

Background Briefing on Abu Usamah at-Thahabi

Abu Usamah at-Thahabi has previously urged that gay people should be punished with death.

“Do you practice homosexuality with men? Take that homosexual man and throw him off the mountain,” Thahabi was recorded as saying by Channel Four’s Dispatches programme.

“If I were to call homosexuals perverted, dirty, filthy dogs who should be murdered, that’s my freedom of speech, isn’t it?”

On Muslims who leave the faith he said: “Kill him in the Islamic state…If the Imam wants to crucify him, he should crucify him. The person is put up on the wood and he’s left there to bleed to death for three days.”

He was filmed by Channel Four deriding women as “deficient”, inferior to men and religiously and intellectually “incomplete.”

He advocates violence against little girls who refuse to wear the hijab: “She should start hijab from the age of seven, by the age of ten it becomes an obligation on us to force her to wear hijab and if she doesn’t wear hijab, we hit her.”

Thahabi was caught on camera making these incitements while addressing worshippers at the Green Lane Mosque in Birmingham.

When he was later interviewed by Channel 4 News, he refused to withdraw or apologise for his comments.

‘The Hobbit’: Unexpected Cruelty

When The Hobbit is released in December, audiences will see an adventure story set in a fantasy world. For the animals involved in the filming, however, the abuse and neglect that they experienced were far too real. In all, five horses, 12 chickens, a pony and several goats and sheep were allegedly maimed or killed.

The Hobbit PETA

A horse named Shanghai was hobbled (his legs were tied together so that he couldn’t move) and left on the ground for three hours because he was too energetic for his rider. Afterward, in order to hide his rope burns for filming, his legs were covered with make-up and hair. Hobbling is an outright violation of guidelines from the American Humane Association (AHA), which was monitoring the production.

More alleged abuse took place where the animals were housed. One horse was killed and another horse was injured after being placed with two high-strung geldings, despite concerns that the geldings would be too aggressive. Another horse was killed after falling off an embankment in a severely crowded paddock. When the horses were moved to the stables, another horse died, probably from colic, an extremely painful illness, after being fed large amounts of food that he wasn’t used to. When the horses were moved back to the paddocks after this incident, another horse had the skin and muscles of her leg torn away by wire fencing. Several goats and sheep died from worm infestations and from falling into the sinkholes that covered the farm, and 12 chickens were mauled and killed by unsupervised dogs or trampled by other animals when left unprotected.

How can something like this happen when the unit production manager was warned and the production was monitored by the AHA? Furthermore, this movie was directed by Peter Jackson, a master of computer-generated imagery (CGI). In a movie that features CGI dragons, ogres, and hobbits, CGI animals would have fit in perfectly. Jackson could have made The Hobbit without using a single animal—and he should have.

Send a message to filmmakers that hurting and killing animals for a film is unacceptable and refuse to see movies that do. Urge Peter Jackson to hold himself and his crew responsible when it comes to animal safety on film sets. Send him a message now!

The United Nations is taking leadership in the fight to end discrimination against lesbian, bisexual, gay and transgender, or LGBT, individuals.

At an historic meeting on the 11th of December, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, human rights defenders, politicians and international entertainers all voiced their support for the LGBT community.

Ethiopia LGBT activists to support Ugandans against anti-gay bill

| 8 December 2012 | 4 Comments

Ethiopia’s LGBT community wants to show support for Ugandan community.

ADDIS ABABA: A group of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) activists in Ethiopia are organizing themselves for what they hope will be action to show solidarity with the gay community in Uganda after their parliament promised to push through an anti-homosexuality bill to further criminalize the gay population.

“We will make certain that they know we are thinking about them and their struggle and make an effort to help however we can,” 24-year-old university student Amina told Bikyamasr.com on Saturday.

She and her fellow independent LGBT activists believe that what is happening in Uganda is a threat to all Africans’, gay or straight, and their freedoms.

“We know that this is the beginning of real attacks on all people and our freedom to live our lives as God created us,” said the lesbian activist.

They are not affiliated with any group, but still hope they can bring the community together in order to advance a better understanding of the LGBT community in Ethiopia, adding that there is too much antagonism between people over being gay.

“It really confuses me how angry people are when they learn I am a lesbian and have a girlfriend. It doesn’t make sense, but we have to help where we can to change people’s attitudes,” she added.

International human rights groups and leaders are calling for the immediate rejection of Uganda’s anti-homosexuality bill, which has been described as a “Christmas gift” to the country by Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga said.

Kadaga also said the new legislation that outlaws homosexuality and criminalizes the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community, “would pass by the year’s end.”

The International Federation of Human Rights (FIDH) said in a statement that it is “extremely concerned by the speeding up of the voting process” and has called on Uganda to end the crackdown on the LGBT community.

The bill is aimed at putting into the national penal code provisions that would continue to criminalize the “offense of homosexuality.”

It was first introduced before Ugandan Parliament in October 2009. At the time, strong mobilization of civil society organizations as well as international governments and institutions enabled to halt the debate and set the bill aside for more than two years.

However, in February this year, it was reintroduced before the Ugandan Parliament in its original version. “With Ms. Kadaga’s recent declarations, the threat of its quick adoption is weighing more than ever over all Ugandan lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) people as well as on human rights organizations, and in particular those working for the protection of LGBTI persons’ rights,” FIDH said in their statement condemning the move.

“If adopted by the Ugandan Parliament, this bill will not only further entrench discrimination and inequality before law, but it will also be a sword of Damocles more dangling over all Ugandan LGBTI citizens’ head as well as over their relatives, friends and more generally those defending their rights. It has to be rejected unconditionally,” said Souhayr Belhassen, FIDH President.

Desmond Tutu has also voiced concerns over the legislation, this week calling on the government to end its crackdown on human rights and dismiss the bill immediately.

FIDH has been strong in its continued attacks over the bill.

“Although lack of transparency surrounds the bill’s current content, information gathered by FIDH clearly suggest that no substantial changes have been made to the 2009 text. In the original version, the Bill contained a series of severe provisions. The one which remains of utmost concern is that providing death penalty for “aggravated homosexuality”, in case of “same sex sexual acts” with someone under 18 or with “a person with disability”, of repeated conviction, or if the “offender is a person living with HIV”. Besides, this bill is putting at high risk civil society activists as well as doctors working with LGBTI persons on HIV and in the field of sexual health, and even parents and teachers, as complicity with or failing to “report” those who are, or believed to be LGBTI are severely sanctioned. This Bill further shocks by its extraterritorial jurisdiction provision making any Ugandan citizen living abroad likely to be charged and extradited,” it said.

“This bill and the debate surrounding its reintroduction before Parliament are symptomatic of the more general hindrances to civil and political rights prevailing in Uganda. In a State of Law, authorities are expected to guarantee and protect the rights of citizens, not to persecute and discriminate them. If passed, this bill will seriously jeopardize fundamental freedoms and represent a setback for our country,” denounced Sidiki Kaba, FIDH Honorary President.

pay for begin, being benign, on top of the search list:

it is also why there is situations where a blog have 300 hundreds hits for not being nothing extraordinary and the other one, not any worse, why not better, but receiving zero visits or approaching.

Play for prize.              Phone for text. 88990

the same I was desperate to find a software to upgrade my computer fearing to lose my data.

instead of the free software that I had searched for hours, when I clicked on finally a link that did not run on my computer advertisement and program that I would have to pay after filling a form. I clicked on this prize lottery wanting to answer 3 questions and finally downloading my software as there were absolutely no other way round.

Click for a free software that you searched for hours and despair to acquire because you need to have on your free time some time out, you clicked and the only door now is a lottery. I thought they wanted a survey, cause it is a survey, you answer questions and after they say you ll win a prize. Yet again impossible to say no you have to say yes it is ok for the free lottery, (as you still want your software, you need it actually, or else your computer is in disrepair.

I clicked on the link thinking that the survey and the lottery were finished and that i could have finally a link to the software, but ney. So i clicked and clicked and clicked, and received text messages suddenly, informing me that i ll have to pay 6 pound a day to entering the competition etc, i received 5 of them, the clicks i made that i thought did not work as nothing appeared on the webpage.

I just have to reply them to stop in order to stop them wanting me to pay them daily for a lottery i never asked or agree to.

I replied praying fervorly that i did stop and that i won’t even be charged one day (five times as i was clicking frenitically trying to go out of this ad that i thought was only fantasy and waste time not pure high way robbery)

Consequences? End of month my phone bills asking me to pay for the texts i send asking them to stop something i never agree to start, and even pay the texts they send me saying to me for the free lottery you could not not avoid (nor see the real content of it) the prize is heavy. I assure you they anounce me i have to pay something while they intrude in something i was searching, block me the route, you are oblige to click to get rid of it and go on with your search, and manage i don’t know how to make me paid for their texts with the risks of me having to pay a fee daily.

so yes they stopped harassing me, I did ot pay to them directly but I had to pay them to send me text announcing to me I had been conned. or that I was to be if not clicking again. sweet thing I could use my phone, what if I was out of credit. do they have access to my bank account the same.

To be over it. Not the Net police are on it, honey, and what if it was the little scam that prepare us for the big, and bigger, and grosser scenery. Set up.

Software searching.

Try to alert the police who gave me a 10 minutes file to fill up, unless i wanted to pay for the phone maybe. After the 10 minutes an error on their sites, id on’t know what i did wrong, it have no patience or else to retry the procedure. Thank you the police.

To whom can one report that report to the police is an odyssey.

Note: metropolitan police does not provide you with proof of your request = no proof of you having raised a offence, in case they don’t look after it?? Or in case they give you wrong information that would bring you in verge of illegality, or in case they give you wrong information that make you sweat 100 times more that the others do (in case of commercial authorisation, etc), they don’ t like the peddler too much in particular, if wrong info given, arrestable in no time for the offence of following restrictions unknown by them and too lazy to check it right anyway.

Fraud Alert

Reporting Fraud

In an emergency you should phone 999. You should use the 999 service to contact police when you need an immediate response – if a crime is happening now or if anyone is in immediate danger. The national local police number is now 101.

If you have been a victim of fraud please follow the guidelines below. If you wish to report other types of crime, please see the MPS Reporting Crime page.

The police are not the only agency with power to investigate fraud related offences; it is often difficult to determine what has happened and who to make reports to.

Action Fraud, is the UK’s national fraud and internet crime reporting centre. It was set up by the National Fraud Authority to take reports of fraud from victims as well as provide support and advice. They issue a ‘crime reference number’ which should be quoted in the same way as one issued by police.

Reports received by Action Fraud are fed into the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB), the central facility overseen by City of London   Police to coordinate fraud investigation.

The NFIB analyses information from Action Fraud and other sources to create intelligence packages of trends and linked cases to be sent to the appropriate police or other law enforcement organisations for investigations which may involve enquiries throughout the UK and overseas.

Reporting Fraud Related offences

The advice sections within the Fraud Alert web pages above may help to understand what has happened to you and be of use before making a report. Further advice is available from Action Fraud.

Special arrangements apply to the fraudulent use of credit cards, bank debit cards, cheques and bank accounts. See item 2 below. See below also for information about trading standards, consumer issues, on-line and vehicle related fraud.

Fraud and Scams

If you are a victim of fraud, often also referred to as ‘scams’, you should make a report.

Action Fraud is available to report fraud and attempted fraud offences on line or by phone.

Local police should take a formal report of fraud in the following circumstances:

· Where the person suspected of committing the crime can be easily identified and apprehended.
· Where the person reporting or the victim is vulnerable.
· Where the crime is in progress.

Victims of fraud often believe that they know the person who has defrauded them because of what they have been told by mail, phone or over the internet.

· Fraudsters use technology to hide their true whereabouts and identity.
· All information that they have provided about themselves may be false.
· Action Fraud will accept reports from overseas where money has been lost and there is a clear link to the UK. A report to your local police in your country should also be made.

See the right side of this page for Metropolitan Police Stations or Police.uk for the contact points for all UK Police organisations.

Vulnerable Victims and Third Party Reports.
A vulnerable victim may not be able to make a crime report or may lack the capacity to understand their situation as a victim of crime.
A third party may make a report for or on behalf of a vulnerable person who is unable to make a report or lacks capacity, where this is in their best interest.

Credit Cards, Bank Debit Cards, Cheques and Bank Accounts

If your credit card, bank debit card, cheques or bank details have been used by fraudsters, your bank or other financial Institution must be informed, they make a report to the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB).
A report should be made to Action Fraud in addition to a report that your bank or other financial institution may make, in the following circumstances:
· The card/account involved is not a UK bank or financial institution.
· Your bank or financial institution will not reimburse you or they have asked you to make a report.
· You have information which may identify the perpetrator of the fraud, (including merchant chargebacks).
If a fraudulent account has been set up in your name and you don’t have a relationship with that bank or card company, a report must be made by you.

If you have lost or had stolen any of the above items, a separate report must be made to Police.

Trading Standards and Consumer issues

If you have a dispute or complaint about something that you have bought in a shop, by mail order or via the internet, or want some consumer advice, contact the Citizens Advice consumer service on 08454 040506 (textphone users should dial 18001 then the full number) or email using the web form

For additional information and online advice, please see the Citizens Advice consumer service website

The Citizens Advice consumer service handles initial complaints on behalf of Trading Standards.

eMails, on-Line and Web Sites

If you have been the victim of a fraud by answering an advert on line, this should be reported as above. It must also be reported to the web site concerned, unless you believe that the whole site may be fraudulent. If you believe that an advert that you have seen is suspicious, report your suspicions to the web site. Many sites allow you to do this as part of the advert.

If you have received a ‘phishing’ email, text, letter or scam communication by any other method and have not lost money or clicked on any website links contained in the message, you can report this online to Action Fraud at Report Attempted Scams or Viruses. This tool will identify the most appropriate email address to forward phishing emails to for disruption, investigation and/or prevention activity
Do not reply to the email or contact the senders in any way, do not click any links in the emails.

Reports by companies.
Organisations of all sizes may make a report to Action Fraud. This covers most fraud related offences and circumstances, however some specialised reports, for example mortgage fraud, which have special arrangements are not reportable direct to Action Fraud at present.

Had to complain to police other site, (Das ist) i filled a file showing me they reported any kind of crime on earth they could possibly make me select and beforehand read about it, but mine, but that after the ordeal a website error prevent me to complete my report.

Fw: impossible fil your file, say i use more than 1500 words; it is untrue.

To: “action.fraud@nfa.gsi.gov.uk” <action.fraud@nfa.gsi.gov.uk>

I don’t want to complain i just don’t want, last time i have been conned by my landlord or even my bank pretending an error of reading, not finding the proof of my writing to them obviously, they would not have to be searched or if not they would erase it. After having been conned by my landlord, i ask the police nothing they can do about it, not even keep a record of having been conned, like if it was daunting to keep a file nowaday. Meaning one can keep deposit, and rent, why not ransack your room, not ransack your room this they would have taken the complain, but i could not invent it, being robbed or several months of rent being enough, with an emergency moving being more than enough for wishing to lose any trace of identity.

The landlords that stay correct in this land of insanity- mind between the price of a room and of transportation that cut the working class for decent living possibilities, write this will become a complete useless, they will become our daily daftly lay.

Story of having to read about vegetarianism to realize it is super healthy. Dozens of hundreds of professionals thesis and summaries now available on internet.

I wanted to do a summary about vegetarian diet, but now with looking up on the net it is so easy that I decide to leave this to myriads of true dieticians, cooks, or all persons of certain amount of knowledge.

I am a vegan now, just cause I was thinking to cows or goats and sheep that are used years in years, over used and deformed, their breast distended (dissent) to the floor in repugnant condition (condiment) of hygiene even when they are deemed to be free…to what? To be put down when they start being a granny. Grain.

In London, of all cities, so many different foods coming from everywhere, and a lot about vegetarian thanks to some sects of the Hindus (hindus aren’t all vegetarians) .

as a vegetarian I even stopped being one following old myth (distort) and fearing I did not have protein enough when my jobs became somewhat and sometimes harder physically.

The real reason, the one determinant is that it was 10 years ago and that I did not have internet access. One day, though, I went to one of the biggest public library in Europe, in paris. I was erring inside (well many days like this) and just bumped into the vegetarian shelves. I knew I could become vegetarian again without any risks as information were at hands. Working in transportation at the time, and at several occasions and in fact regularly I could see from far and all the way the cows, pigs, sheeps, fowl, oh folk, trying to take deep breath through the aperture of the trucks driving them to slaughter houses.

As I was watching them, I recognised yes, eyes, nostrils, muses, lips, mouths, and beards (wired), hip hails, ail, hairs, flesh, silky under, pelt, skin then leather. I am so ashamed, rather (rate) not to say, even to myself, as I knew since the start of my life that these are animals, that they are vest best friends, that they are us, that they cuddle, think, feel, live, laugh, cry and smile for the ones that have listened to their heart. Heart beat just the way one take breath after breath, for live to enter, even though we gonna be slaughtered by the very same that bred them. I don’t know I had to say to myself,  you have to become vegetarian back, I don’t know how dozens, hundreds, thousands times, since repeated and sever, sieve, siezed or served,  in my mind or conscience rather, looking att these animals that you can attribute with comprehension enough to know, or sense of course more, the fact that they are driven (to, certain, ascertain, certitude, attitude of not in-human HAM) to their meat, death without human braver to defy the holocaust of all ages, and animal like human expires. And what about what one would say, crate, treat trait, ingloriously ignominiously like that, back to their creator?

To stop when you have read the 10th good book on vegetarianism. And swer to everything you got- life content and awarness of that- while you got that one gaze is one more, less for one’s paradise path, if one’s own is not up to that, appreciate a beast same content. Con-tent. The same home the same sky. As far as the / the shelter don’t dry dust or allow defloration, deforestation by sadness or inundations. Radiation, radiator.

Glad, iator. Rad like raft.

Allig ator.

VEGAN AND GAVE.

Deforestation without ludicrous logging. Amputated humanity.

Ash tree disease: Britain will never look the same again

100,000 ash trees have been cut down so far to combat the fungal disease

Kipling was on to something when he made the ash part of a forgotten mythology  Photo: Alamy

And now the ashes are dying. “Don’t it always seem to go,” sang Joni Mitchell in her fey, sexy, Canadian way, “that you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone?” She was right.

Ordinarily – don’t you find? – it is interesting and even exhilarating to see a tree cut down. Its insides, so clean and beautifully structured, are as appetising as any tray of dressed honeycomb tripe or scrubbed pigs’ feet piled on the butcher’s counter in the market. But a diseased tree, turned to dead timber, is as repellent as a side of beef with BSE.

Some people take tree-felling harder. “The ash tree growing in the corner of the garden was felled,” wrote Gerard Manley Hopkins one April Tuesday in Lancashire, when he was still in his twenties. “I heard the sound and, looking out and seeing it maimed, there came at that moment a great pang and I wished to die and not to see the inscapes of the world destroyed any more.”

By inscape, a word he had invented about five years earlier, the poet meant “individually-distinctive beauty”. I’m not sure whether his intuition of “thisness” (on which inscape relies) is intellectually coherent. Never mind. What he did do was see and feel, and since there have already been 100,000 ash trees cut down to counter this new-found fungal disease, Chalara fraxinea, their loss should cause many a pang.

It’s not just Hopkins, but before leaving him, it’s worth borrowing his eyes for a moment. “On a December day and furled fast,” he wrote in a poem on ash boughs, “they in clammyish lashtender combs creep / Apart wide and new-nestle at heaven most high. / They touch heaven, tabour on it; how their talons sweep / The smouldering enormous winter welkin.”

That is simply true. By lashtender I suppose he means “soft as eyelashes”, and their boughs’ ends do sweep and beat upon the sky as on a tabour. It’s the “clammyish” aspect, though, that has weighed against the ash in my experience: their clusters of seeds or keys hang soggily and their fallen leaves lie slimily on the dewy grass. That is very different from the crisp, copper leaf litter of the beech. But then we are used to seeing ashes in damp hedgerows.

They have thriven in hedges where once the elms were dominant. The loss of 25 million elms in Britain from Dutch elm disease since the Sixties has utterly transformed the landscape. It is not merely the number of trees now missing, but the lost character that they gave the places where they grew – a cricket field, say, where rooks cawed from a row of elms beyond the boundary.

It was just such a rookery of elms to which David Copperfield (Dickens in not much disguise) first opened his eyes. Their wind-tossed boughs prophesied bad times ahead. “As the elms bent to one another, like giants who were whispering secrets, and after a few seconds of such repose, fell into a violent flurry, tossing their wild arms about, as if their late confidences were really too wicked for their peace of mind, some weatherbeaten ragged old rooks’ nests, burdening their higher branches, swung like wrecks upon a stormy sea.”

For today’s readers this picture of elms means nothing, or next to nothing, since we no longer know elms and their characteristic shape. Is it soon to be the same with ashes?

Kipling tried to give the ash tree a place in an invented mythology for England in Puck of Pook’s Hill. His triad of English trees discounted the yew, or beech, or elm, and he swore instead by oak, ash and thorn. “Thorn of the Down saw New Troy Town / (From which was London born) / Witness hereby the ancientry/ Of Oak, and Ash, and Thorn.” He meant that the ash stood guard when Brutus, the descendant of Aeneas, settled in Britain at about the time that the Philistines captured the Ark of the Covenant from the Israelites. A likely story.

Still, Kipling was on to something when he made the ash part of a forgotten mythology. He was really writing about England, rather than Britain, and the English cannot help sharing in the myths of their Germanic forebears that seem so unconvincing on stage in Wagner.

Yet, as the Eddas tell us, the ash tree Yggdrasil is the noblest of trees (though the Norsemen at last learnt of a nobler). It embraces the world. On this tree Odin himself was hanged and sacrificed himself. Only when the tree is set on fire will the world end. “Smoke wreathes up around the ash Yggdrasil, the high flames play against the heavens, the graves of the gods, of the giants and of men are swallowed up by the sea. This is Ragnarok, the twilight of the gods.”

In England now, instead of the pyres that burnt cattle during the foot-and-mouth plague (their legs dark against the sky), we see the smoke of the ash trees. It’s not the end of the world, of course. Or is it…?

Yahoo! News – Aan is treated by conservation workers who rescued her after she was shot more than 30 times in the head (SWNS)

A brave orangutan is on the miraculous road to recovery after she was cruelly shot more than 100 times with an airgun.

Aan the great ape was repeatedly attacked by callous yobs who objected to her roaming around an oil plantation in Borneo, Indonesia.

The orangutan, thought to be around 15 years old, was rescued by conservation workers who found a staggering 104 pellets lodged in her vital organs, eyes and ears.

Horrifying x-rays show the extent of her cruel treatment, after which vets performed vital surgery to remove 37 pellets from her head and a further 67 from the rest of her body.

The endangered ape – left blind by the repeated attacks – underwent a three-hour procedure to treat the airgun wounds and is now making a remarkable recovery.

Dr Zulfiqri, a veterinarian from the British-based Orangutan Foundation, removed 32 of the pellets lodged in her body and head during a three-hour surgery at the BKSDA-Kalteng office in Pangkalan Bun, Central Kalimantan.

Aan is now recovering at the Orangutan Foundation Veterinary Facility where she is taking food and water and “showing an incredible resilience against all she has undergone”.

But Aan is now blind with scans showing a dozen pellets lodged in and around her eyes – meaning food and water must be touched or placed in her hands.

The foundation says it is now unlikely Aan will ever be released back into the wild because she will be an easy target for hunters and angry farmers who view orangutans as pests.

Her story is another tragic example of the plight faced by orangutans in the wild as they have their habitat destroyed.

Aan, 15, pictured before she received vital surgery (SWNS)
Despite being protected by law, orangutans live in rainforests which are being destroyed through logging and conversion to oil-palm plantations.

It is hoped her experience will help raise awareness of the cruel situation suffered by orangutans in the wild – and encourage tough punishments on those who hunt and kill the endangered animals.

Earlier this year four men were sent to jail for eight months for shooting and beating to death three orangutans and long-nosed monkeys in East Kalimantan.

Mr Bambang Hartono, head of the local conservation agency, said: “I hope that Aan will now feel more comfortable being in the forest living in a large holding cage.

“We will work together with the Orangutan Foundation to find the best way so that Aan can continue to live.”

Ashley Leiman OBE, director of the Orangutan Foundation added: “We have worked in Borneo over 20 years and have never had to rescue three orangutans in four days.

“The reasons for the increase could be due to the rapid loss of orangutan habitat or it could be because more people are reporting orangutans to the wildlife department whereas before they would have killed
them.”

Tatchell arrested at State Visit of Indonesian President

West Papuan flag unfurled – arrested for breach of the peace

Indonesian President accused of war crimes in West Papua & East Timor

London – 31 October 2012

Police arrested human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell when he unfurled a West Papuan flag as the Indonesian President’s limousine departed Westminster Abbey this afternoon.

Tatchell was wrestled to the ground by the President’s bodyguards and then arrested by Metropolitan Police officers. He had been planning to attempt a citizen’s arrest of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono during his State Visit to the UK.

“The President stands accused of war crimes in East Timor and West Papua,” said Mr Tatchell, who is Director of the human rights organisation, the Peter Tatchell Foundation.

“It is appalling that the Royal Family and the Prime Minister are hosting a man who is implicated in mass murder.

“I was arrested for a peaceful, lawful protest, which involved nothing more sinister than holding a flag. I was also threatened with further charges for “shouting loudly” the words “Free West Papua” and for what one police officer described as “pointing your finger at me in a way that I find intimidating.”

“I am saddened that some police officers apparently have no respect for freedom of expression and the right to peaceful protest.

“I was detained unlawfully and deprived of my liberty for two hours. After being taken to Charring Cross police station, I was eventually released without charge. Clearly, the police knew they had over-stepped the mark and that the charges against me were baseless,” he said.

Child Marriage Around the world: the importance of the question as a widespread fact.

  • If present trends continue, 100 million girls will marry over the next decade. That’s 25,000 girls married every day for the next 10 years.

Figures and Consequences:

Poverty and Child Marriage

  • Girls living in poor households are almost twice as likely to marry before 18 than girls in higher income households.
  • More than half of the girls in Bangladesh, Mali, Mozambique and Niger are married before age 18. In these same countries, more than 75 percent of people live on less than $2 a day.

Education and Child Marriage

  • Girls with higher levels of schooling are less likely to marry as children. In Mozambique, some 60 percent of girls with no education are married by 18, compared to 10 percent of girls with secondary schooling and less than one percent of girls with higher education.
  • Educating adolescent girls has been a critical factor in increasing the age of marriage in a number of developing countries, including Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Taiwan and Thailand.

Health and Child Marriage

  • Girls younger than 15 are five times more likely to die in childbirth than women in their 20s. Pregnancy is the leading cause of death worldwide for women ages 15 to 19.
  • Child brides face a higher risk of contracting HIV because they often marry an older man with more sexual experience. Girls ages 15 – 19 are 2 to 6 times more likely to contract HIV than boys of the same age in sub-Saharan Africa.

Violence and Child Marriage

  • Girls who marry before 18 are more likely to experience domestic violence than their peers who marry later. A study conducted by ICRW in two states in India found that girls who were married before 18 were twice as likely to report being beaten, slapped or threatened by their husbands than girls who married later.
  • Child brides often show signs symptomatic of sexual abuse and post-traumatic stress such as feelings of hopelessness, helplessness and severe depression.

Religion and Child Marriage

  • No one religious affiliation was associated with child marriage, according to a 2007 ICRW study. Rather, a variety of religions are associated with child marriage in countries throughout the world.

What has been done?

“There will no doubt be discussion about rich countries’ commitments to increase funds and whether governments in the developing world have used resources effectively. Unfortunately little attention will be given to child marriage and its damaging impact on the health of millions of girls and women.

There is, in fact, compelling evidence that child marriage has been a major brake on progress towards no less than six of the eight MDGs. Our hopes of reducing child and maternal mortality, combating HIV/Aids and achieving universal primary education are damaged by the fact that one in seven girls in the developing world – and it is overwhelmingly girls who suffer this fate – are married before they reach 15. So, too, are our ambitions to eliminate extreme poverty and promote gender equality.

The statistics are stark. In poor countries, babies born to mothers under 18 are 60% more likely to die in their first year than those born to older women. Girls under 15 are five times more likely to die during pregnancy and childbirth than women in their 20s. Lack of information, marriage to much older men and the inability to negotiate safe sexual practices also puts child brides at greater risk of HIV infection than their unmarried peers.

Child brides are more likely to drop out of school to concentrate on domestic chores and child rearing. But this bias against educating girls starts even earlier. In societies where girls are normally married off young, there can seem little point in investing in their education.

Poverty is a major driver of child marriage. In many poor countries and communities, marrying off a daughter relieves a family of an extra mouth to feed. A bride price or dowry can also be a much-needed windfall for desperate families.

All this has a damaging inter-generational impact. The children of young and poorly educated girls tend to do less well in school and have lower earnings as adults, perpetuating the cycle of poverty.

Child marriages take place in every continent but they are particularly common in south Asia and parts of sub-Saharan Africa. Child marriage rates reach 65% in Bangladesh and 48% in India – 76% in Niger and 71% in Chad. In the coming decade an estimated 100 million girls will be married before they reach 18.

Education, profession, social issues and Child Marriage

Girls with higher levels of schooling are less likely to marry as children.

early childbearing, with significantly higher maternal mortality and morbidity rates as

well as higher infant mortality rates

negative effects on girls’education.

Girls with low levels of schooling are more likely to be married early, and

child marriage virtually puts an end to a girl’s education

Isolation. A child bride’s lack of education and peers limits her support systems,

and without skills, mobility, and connections, she is constrained in her ability to overcome

poverty for herself, her children, or her family.

One might think, given the powerful evidence of the damage caused to individuals and societies, that the practice of child marriage would be high on both national and global agendas. However, what is striking is the discrepancy between the scale and seriousness of the problem and the attention it has been given.

National and international communities are increasingly recognizing child marriage

as a serious problem, both as a violation of girls’ human rights and as a hindrance

to key development outcomes

To reconcile these two statements one could say that child marriage has become a topic but has not yet being inscribed as being a priority, or did not beneficiate from enough funds. The fact that atrocities lasts even though known and ‘taken in consideration’ by the U.N is not an isolate case.

– Rich countries’ commitments to increase funds?

– Have governments in the developing world used resources effectively?

– Unfortunately little attention will be given to child marriage and its damaging impact on the health of millions of girls and women.

-Child marriage has been a major brake on progress towards no less than six of the eight MDGs.

-reducing child and maternal mortality

-combating HIV/Aids

-achieving universal primary education are damaged by the fact that one in seven girls in the developing world – and it is overwhelmingly girls who suffer this fate – are married before they reach 15. So, too, are our ambitions to eliminate extreme poverty and promote gender equality.

In poor countries, babies born to mothers under 18 are 60% more likely to die.

We understand, of course, the reluctance to intervene in what is traditionally considered a family matter. We recognize that child marriage is embedded deep in the traditions of many societies and is all too often sanctioned by religious leaders. Change will not be easy.

There is some evidence that, thanks to grassroots campaigns and new economic opportunities for women, child marriage is in decline in some parts of the world. However, at the current rate of progress, it will take hundreds of years to disappear. The challenge is how we can help communities accelerate change.

This is why we are committed to drawing attention to the damage that child marriage is causing and to supporting those working towards ending it. This means a new emphasis on engagement, debate and education – especially at the community level.

We actively seek wider engagement with religious leaders on this issue. No religions we know explicitly promote child marriage. The fact that religious leaders condone and sanction it in many societies owes more to custom and tradition than doctrine. But we cannot allow the distortion of faith or long-standing custom to be used as an excuse to ignore the rights of girls and women, and to hold their communities in poverty.

What we have learned over the years is that social change of this kind cannot be imposed from above. Laws have little impact. The overwhelming majority of countries already outlaw child marriage through domestic legislation or are signatories to international treaties that prohibit it. But this has not fed through to change on the ground. In Zambia, for example, the legal minimum age for marriage is 21, yet 42% of girls are married by the age of 18 and nearly one in 12 by the time they reach 15. Similar contradictions are evident in many countries.

(ICRW, 2011)

On balance, the results from this composite of evaluations lean toward positive findings,

indicating that a set of strategies focusing on girls’ empowerment, community mobilization,

enhanced schooling, economic incentives and policy changes have improved knowledge,

attitudes, and behavior related to child marriage prevention.

The consequences of child marriage to the girls who experience it can be devastating

(Jain & Kurz 2007; UNICEF 2001; 2005; Mathur et al 2003). Early marriage leads to

(Mensch 2005; UNICEF 2005; Save the Children

2004; Bott & Jejeebhoy 2003). Moreover, child marriage has negative effects on girls’

education.  (Mathur et al 2003; Mensch 2005;

Jejeebhoy 1995). Young girls married to older men with more

sexual experience are also at greater risk of HIV infection (Clark 2004), and child brides

are at heightened risk of violence in the home (ICRW 2005; Santhya et al 2010).

The lack of education, health, physical safety, and autonomy deprives girls of their

basic human rights, and it also acts as a brake to social and economic development.

National and international indicators on maternal health, education, food security,

poverty eradication, HIV/AIDS, and gender equality are all negatively linked with high

child marriage rates. In fact, child marriage undermines the achievement of each of

the eight Millennium Development Goals and global targets to reduce poverty worldwide

(UNICEF 2006).

1. DEPTH VERSUS SCALE AND SUSTAINABILITY

However, there is a possibility that the results may be temporary

and simply a response to a heavy dose of the intervention

The results suggest that, with some qualifications, this

strategy is working. However, there is a possibility that the results may be temporary

and simply a response to a heavy dose of the intervention. Moreover, the program’s

complexity may limit sophisticated evaluation, and program costs and infrastructural

demands may make scale and sustainability unlikely.

In the realm of child marriage prevention, more creative evaluation

approaches may be necessary to effectively understand and appreciate the extent to

which the desirable change has materialized. Researchers, implementers and donors

working in the field will have to decide whether they are wedded to positivist social

science or are willing to explore emerging thinking on “systems change” and “collective

impact,” which may be better suited to the endeavor of child marriage prevention

it is possible that the evaluation occurred too soon.

Programs have deployed a set of five core strategies to prevent child marriage:

• Empowering girls with information, skills and support networks

• Educating and mobilizing parents and community members

• Enhancing the accessibility and quality of formal schooling for girls

• Offering economic support and incentives for girls and their families

• Fostering an enabling legal and policy framework

AGENDA FOR FUTURE ACTION

Find the right balance between depth versus scale and sustainability by relying

on the experience of child marriage prevention experts, and also exploring new

government and private sector platforms and partnerships in the education,

health and economic sectors.

Some people and ‘clerics’ want to challenge the age one might be considerate as being ‘mature enough’ by not taking into account the age of a person attaints physical and biological development (scientifically the brain reaching adult size and functionality at around 21 year of age) and would like to below the age to which one can marry, taking menstruation for being the sign of ‘adulthood’ or even before taking this time any other parameters for suiting their strategies of lowering ‘child protection’.

The situation as it is, is in fact not preoccupying legally as the legal age for consent is threatened by a minority. Child marriages though will happen extra-legaly without being or reported or condemned.

Malaysian minister rejects child marriage reform

(AFP) – Mar 16, 2010

KUALA LUMPUR — Malaysia’s religion minister on Tuesday defended Islamic laws that allow girls under 16 to marry, amid a controversy over two youngsters who were married off to middle-aged men.

The issue has flared in Malaysia after reports that two girls aged 10 and 11 were wed in the conservative northern state of Kelantan last month. They have now been removed from their husbands.

Rights groups have called for the reform of Islamic laws that allow marriage under the age of 16 if religious officials give their consent. Sharia law runs in parallel with civil law in multi-ethnic Malaysia.

“There is no need to amend the law,” Jamil Khir Baharom, a cabinet minister in charge of religious affairs, told reporters.

“The law already exists… marrying someone aged 16 and below requires the consent of the court. The court does not simply grant the consent,” he said.

“Maturity is a subjective question. It depends on the development of the person. Maturity is not based on age solely.”

Pressure group Sisters in Islam has called for an end to child marriages, saying the practice was “unacceptable” but continued in Malaysia because of a “belief that Muslim girls can be married off once they reach puberty”.

YEMEN: Islamic lawmaker decries child marriage ban as part of ‘Western agenda’

April 18, 2010

But that may prove a daunting challenge since fierce opposition against a ban on child brides still runs high among some religious leaders and conservatives.

Sheik Mohammed Hamzi, an official of the Islamist Yemeni opposition party Islaah and the imam of the Al-Rahman mosque in the Yemeni capital of Sana, is one of those who staunchly opposes a legal ban on child marriage.

what could be seen as a variation:

In parts of rural India into the religious ‘Devadasi-system’

(Devadasi means ‘servant of god’). Girls who through this custom are dedicated to the

goddess Yellema are forbidden to marry. When they reach puberty they are either taken

by a priest or the village chief as a concubine. If and when this relationship ends the

girl/young woman is likely to become a village prostitute or move to city brothels.

Whilst in the letter of the law these practices are now illegal, traditions persist. A similar

tradition exists in Nepal, but the goddess concerned is called Devki. Such

institutionalisation of prostitution has many variants throughout world history and

cultures (see, for example, Cox 1993).

Many people say that the devadasis have the social prestige of being married to a

Child marriage: our commitment to ending it

Child marriage has been a major brake on progress towards six of the eight millennium development goals, write Jimmy Carter and Fernando Henrique Cardoso

Organization idea.

To connect with organizations tackling child marriage and to fund them while reporting in our website every action and the assessment of this action.

Every organization we help financially will be in return documenting us with what has been done and how. We will ask what the objectives and ethics of the organization are in order to draw wider project and facilitate the elaboration and links of each project, and define the end and toward which means could the problems be solved more structurally as well as comprehensively.

Also we will take into account economical, cultural context, and whilst having as objectives to help every individual, the help provided should not increase gap in the redistribution of opportunities and support as a whole. Example not to spend all the funds on one case (reaching western notion of development standards) but towards the inclusion of all children by stopping having economical incentives (or other gratification) or need to enter ‘marriage’.

To satisfy legitimate concern about accountability and transparency we will make public the details of all funding and projects.

In addition, the organizations we help are transparent and publish a detailed view of their spending, policies, understanding, ethics, aims and actions.

We will follow every, individual, school, community’s, policies efforts and report them to our members (emailing them) and non-members (accessible on the website), thorough the duration of the programs and beyond if possible.

In order to ‘network’ we will strive establishing links with similar, horizontal or vertical organizations. We will also work with other professionals (journalists, academics, politicians) to elaborate a wider view and foster more accurate knowledge and possibility for intervention as well as incoming search, data, and problem solving and resolution currently in place.

Ngo strategies.

Staff expertise available: As a start-up, I am a part-time staff and I welcome and seek volunteer staff (advertising my organization to students and others) in exchange of me training them and giving them responsibility.

Fund raising, partnership and visibility.

Sponsors could be Local businessperson or companies, individuals, via internet.

–       I am ready work with the donors on specific case while respecting confidentiality. My objectives are to answer in the most opened manner questions and concerns.

–       To give every piece of information on about how much time and money have been spent while to make things happen while trying a low-cost approach for salaries and the way project are conducted.  With the aim to be inclusive, that is to try and help and schools helping a whole village rather than project only able to address isolated cases.

–       To target specific, delimited areas or communities: principles of helping projects already in place with money, networking, representation, lobbying, create a forum where issues can be expressed by the communities, any kind of help.

–       Get third party organizations to write about the program and projects.

–       relations with the media,

–       spokespersons among the staff members.

http://www.gdrc.org/ngo/accountability/index.html

Accountability given back to the donors in expressing what the situations are and where the money goes.

Keep the record (money spending, full detail of action taken and communicating them specifically to donors in keeping confidentiality issues). Providing proof and series of actions, plan towards a specific target and aim.

-Try to seek in-kind contributions from experts, especially from a corporation or company.

-Seek advice, work-time, equipment use etc

Bring together a coalition of partners – of other NGOS, universities, research institutions, etc. who contribute different expertise and knowledge, and larger target areas and beneficiary communities

A number of strategies can be seen being used by NGOs to build their credibility:

  • Use of academics and experts to evaluate NGO projects and activities
  • Associating with national or regional associations, alliances, or forums
  • Obtaining UN accreditation
  • Finding credible spokespeople
  • Speaking and publishing regularly
  • Seeking awards and prizes as recognition for work done
  • Partnering with key community, governmental and industry entities
  • Writing case studies that tell compelling stories from people and communities they serve
  • Getting some good press stories
  • To lectures at events, in schools.

  • Understanding an NGO’s strengths and larger connections, communicate the strengths and connections consistently
  • Keeping a significant presence online – both web and email
  • Generating a good image through newsletters, bulletins, press releases etc.

http://www.gdrc.org/ngo/accountability/index.html

Example of programmes and projects:

Promising Approaches: Population Reference Bureau data.

  • In rural Ethiopia, a project targeting young women provided mentoring from adult women in the community, economic incentives to remain in school, and improved access to reproductive health information and services. Early marriage among participants dropped significantly.
  • Senegal’s Tostan community empowerment project reduced early marriage through sessions on human rights, democracy, and health that included education on the right to free consent to marriage and the health problems that child marriage and early childbearing can cause.
  • In Bangladesh, scholarships for secondary school proved to greatly influence parents’ decisions to keep their daughters in school. The scholarships increased girls’ enrollment and attendance significantly.
  • A project in Nepal focused on providing income-generating skills to young girls to help support themselves financially, stay in school, and avoid early marriage.

Population Reference Bureau.

The UN and universalisation of the implementation of rights.

On a particular note in lobbying the U.N regarding child marriage, the age of consent is 16 while the adult age is 18. Of course this legalization might be necessary as for legalizing sex.

However to consider the age of the partner has to be taken into account which is not the case in every country. Being put under financial or mental pressure by parents, families and communities should put the governments into an obligation to permit the child, after having been protected effectively legally until their majority, to become an economically independent person in order not to have to yield under a situation where their choice -and understanding– has been significantly or totally reduced.

I also think that in what concerned ‘adulthood’ it has been scientifically proven that physical maturity and when the brain is “entirely formed” is in fact reach more around the age of 21 year-old.

Also younger age increase vulnerability as maturity will ‘condemn’ someone whose live has begun being forced into a circle of violation and exploitation. Also in term of philosophy and policy the victims of sexual exploitation should be protected from their violators and from perpetrating the same actions and conditions, whatever their ages are cf: forced marriage in general, sexual exploitation of adults or prostitution.

.

Legal  requirement is not the main problem as the The Convention on the Rights of the Child is the first legally binding international instrument to incorporate the full range of human rights—civil, cultural, economic, political and social rights. In 1989, world leaders decided that children needed a special convention just for them because people under 18 years old often need special care and protection that adults do not. The leaders also wanted to make sure that the world recognized that children have human rights too.

http://www.unicef.org/crc/

“The Convention on the Rights of the Child is the most ratified human rights treaty in human history,” said UNICEF Executive Director Ann M. Veneman.  “It has transformed the way children are viewed and treated throughout the world.”

The Convention has 193 ratifications, http://www.unicef.org/india/media_5874.htm It noted that only the USA besides Somalia (which still has no functioning government) only the USA besides Somalia (which still has no functioning government) (Kelly, 1995)

difference between legal ages of consent of 14 and 16 will have a significant impact on

how extensive we estimate this problem to be, and on responses to it. Moreover, few

legal systems define these offenses using the UN, and Council of Europe, definitions of

childhood as up to 18, and young people as 18-21. It is extremely unlikely that

The fact that people seem to care, write about it, but a question arises when records of child marriage prove that the phenomenon in fact concerns million of teenagers and does not appear to recede in any significant way.

Rational for letting that happen:

Religious: Marriage, social registration and religious rituals.

Rational, maturity subjective are ‘reason’ used by people wanting this type of ‘sexual exploitation’ to go on. They will say that a child might be mature enough to marry an adult.

In every country this more than a scourge might happen, and happen in a gross scale under Christianity or Hindu religion influence. However one could have a particular concern about Islamic interpretation of the Hadith:

Religious people will preach that Mohamed had four wives in order not to consummate their marriage (even so children had been registered) but to simply give to women the legal protection they needed. At the time being a widow or unmarried could equal to being doomed to ‘abject poverty’. Also the polygamous “status” of mahammad, officialising other marriage would be trumped by saying that these marriage were not consummated. But economical household only, within which what liberty were octroied is some details I haven’t studied.

Also these material are very difficult to handle as a non Arabic speaker, non theologian, non historian…thus whatever might be found would be subject to interminable theorization and interpretation. Also my aim here is not to advocate a way of interpretation and thence not judging the texts of Islamic believes but doing so to the way they are discussed by ‘believers’ and worshippers and take as a justification for present actions and edits.

Mohammed in in most sources said to have ‘legally married’ four women. The last of which was a 6 year old called Aisha, with whom Mohammed had sexual intercourse when she was a 9 year old and him an over 50 year old character.

In many places, of course, that story is taken to justify actual and today’s institutionalized pedophilia (see case study) (Silas, 2011).

Sociologic:

Should one care about rational? Cultural relativism is used to give many reasons about child marriage customs, and defend the fact that nothing is done or should be done ‘in a quiet manner’ as it is society practices’. Cultural relativism is a viewpoint adopted by many in sociology.

Cultural relativism is a widely held position in the modern world. Words like “pluralism,” “tolerance,” and “acceptance” have taken on new meanings, as the boundaries of “culture” have expanded. The loose way in which modern society defines these ideas has made it possible for almost anything to be justified on the grounds of “relativism.” The umbrella of “relativism” includes a fairly wide range of ideas, all of which introduce instability and uncertainty into areas that were previously considered settled.

However, the problem with moving from cultural perspective to cultural relativism is the erosion of reason that it causes. Rather than simply saying, “we need to understand the morals of other cultures,” it says, “we cannot judge the morals of other cultures,” regardless of the reasons for their actions.

I will argue that some people demonstrate how Western thinking is biased in saying that it is only about “what we think”, that culture is a matter of opinion. I would answer that it is not about no one thinks but what about facts. It is not about taking into consideration how I feel, or how the average people, anyone feel but to concentrate on what the girls endure.

Also on a larger reciprocity, if they want to know what people think and feel well it would be just fair enough that they go under, through the torture that they let happen in the name of ‘relativisation’, ‘tolerance’ or ‘diplomacy’.

Similarly, to take a different analogy, if you permit sexual mutilation, then to understand how it is injustice, would it be useful to think yourself without sex, clitoris or penis?

Even, in breach of such bodily integrity (whatever body mutilation or sexual slavery) retributive justice would make sense happening. Ex: if one is threatening a child and that there is no possibility to stop you but imprisonment then should prevail such punishment.

And to be honest is when sharia law might be met with empathy.

Aims of my presentation:

Why cultural relativism about other places?

Taboo inside one’s own?

Is it the product of poverty alone or mentalities?

Would the western world justify not intervening and preventing invoking ‘cultural relativism’?

In this presentation, are listed a number of articles in which girls are often viewed through their health, productivity, diplomas, live skills, social achievements…

One question certainly less reviewed by officials is the links between child marriage, and slavery, domestic abuses and torture. Or the fact that children has to be protected not because of the measurable results on criteria and evaluation but because to ‘marry’ a child to an adult (constant biologic) is an act of torture, total control upon personal development, “to own another life, and perpetual violation.

UNPF (2011)

LAC: Latin America and the Caribbean:

Widespread in the west?

Even less so mentioned the taboo on pedophilia.

If I am mentioning taboo here is because pedophilia though concerning the more vulnerable population, the children, often by their own carers or familiars, (parents, family, siblings…) will be happening concealed by ‘privacy’.

I would argue that pedophilia is a very widespread phenomemon in ‘first world countries’ but is so the object of ‘tabooisation’ that for example schools, or civil society did not elaborate projects to talk openly and regularly about these subjects, leaving ‘sexual education’ and what is sexual behavior or sexual predation up to the family to set up or to ignore…that is to say not made public and leaving certain children in total ignorance or impotence about a danger that target them especially and solely.

  • The National Resource Council estimates the percent of the U.S. population which has been sexually abused to range from a low of 20-24 percent to a high of 54-62 percent of the population; the higher estimate includes sexualized exposure without touching, such as masturbating in front of the child.1 The largest retrospective study on the prevalence of child sexual abuse found 27 percent of women and 16 percent of men reported abuse.4

Similar data on sexual and physical abuses and violence had notoriously been reported in countries (yet giving the green light to such enquiries) such as France.

I intentionally don’t reveal many other sources for they advocate in the same time of referring to the haddith, the life of their prophet, the fact that to permit and perpetuate such monstrosities is ok, docky.

Look at this one who of course, praise muhmuh for his felicity.

Not say to this scholar piss upon you, torture is not the answer, but any means to stop this fucking pedo is if slowness in the procedure, prison?. What would you do with his children now?

I mean we don’t need to set up any how or anyone. If this is the law, satan may inspire us to suicide before this d perjure.
