Andes glaciers melting at high speed
A study reports that glaciers in the Andes mountain range of South America are retreating at rates faster than any in the past 300 years — between 30% and 50% since the 1970s — and “will probably completely disappear within the coming decades,” said lead author Antoine Rabatel. Among the areas likely to be most affected are the Santa River valley in Peru, and the city of La Paz in Bolivia. BBC (1/23) LinkedInFacebookTwitterEmail this Story
